A few short filmy type things I've worked on... and also a splash of Bartok

Hush

This is a scene made in an afternoon by Matt Keynes and myself for a script writing project at University. Matt plays the hero of the tale, Derek Fisher, whilst I play the baddy, who just happens to bear a striking resemblance to one of the goodies... Contains strong language.

This is the second video we made for the Scouts (the other was Bicycle Race) using the music of Queen. With this I wanted to create a sort of a documentary of the rehearsals for the Scouts show...
Bicycle Race

The local scout group commisioned us to come up with something for their annual show, using Queen's "Bicycle Race" as a backdrop. After watching hours of footage of Scouts on bikes and not really knowing what to do with it, I started messing around with the speed, which triggered the idea of making a 'silent film'.

An experimental piece. The poem was scrawled in a book of poetry which I found in a local library, if anyone can shed any light on who wrote it, I'd be most grateful.

Psycho shower scene: The alternative version
Переглядів 16 тис.18 років тому
We had to add a new soundtrack to an existing piece of footage, Hitchcock's Psycho shower scene being one of them. I didn't quite finish producing this, as I concocted it in about 10 mins and thought it 'too easy', so went to work for about 10 weeks on a more serious project. I was later told by my tutor that this was the better piece. Typical.

For this project we were given the task of producing a short film about our University.
sublime
Brillante ejecución del Excepcional Violinista .
Wunderbar!!!!
Great Ivry Gitlis!!
I love how she plays Bartók. I remember there was another performance of her on UA-cam, playing Bartók Romanian Folk Dances with a piano accompany again, it was at Tokyo and the year was 2016 If I'm not wrong. Whatever that video has taken down and I cannot listen it anymore. I like that one better, she was playing more clean and soothing. Since it wasn't an open air performance, the sound quality was better. I would be pleased if anyone give me a link to buy the DVD of that performance. I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet. Or could someone upload it again?
I listened to this amazing music a few years ago. Now, I finally found it. I think that no “Romanian folks dance” is better than this movie.
Nobody has performed it better than David Oistrakh.
I've LUST in person many times. She does this perfectly.
Fabulous!!!!
been coming back to this for 10 years :)
This sonata was ordered by Menuhin and Bartok finished this wonderful music only a short time before his death. There are several good recordings like the one of Menuhin himself or Ricci and a lot of others. Originally the last movement had quartertones in it, but Menuhin changed them on his edition to half tones. As much as I know, only Tetzlaff plays this original version. Maybe also Kremer. I have to check this.
Ms Jansen, Here's another suite that might be of interest: ua-cam.com/video/Rj8YC0dOSeg/v-deo.html
this is just... amazing. no words to describe it

Where could we find the complete recording?
Wow. I’ve never heard a recording of this where someone actually did all those grace notes in the 6th movement so clearly. The entire thing was very clean and nicely in tune. Amazing! Best recording I’ve heard
The best version I was hear!
competent perf
He was touched.It is enough...
Its not the music...The soul.
Amazing. Does anyone know where this clip is from?
You are all deaf if you think she plays it bad! It's actually one of the best renditions i know of this extremely difficult piece of music. Not counting the little mistakes she does, this is really in the level of Kocsis version. And obviously, better than Martha Argerich and not to mention Lang Lang.
It's better than the Kocsis version. It's more expressive. People have been blabbering about this on here for ages. Anyway, it's all a matter of opinion, but I bet Kocsis would agree. Hers is just beautiful & perfect.
Congratulations for this interpretation! clearly one of the best!!!
Wow! that was nice!!! You really keep the meaning of this first movement by keeping the constant rhythmn. It's the only one that i know that does this in a clear way. Kocsis is great here too, but he misses around a bit with the rhythmn in my opinion.
wie ghost kommt >.<~Gespenst~~~~~kommt~~~`
かっこいい…
perfect!! thank you for good music ^^
Wow!!! I've head lots of versions of the Romanian Folk Dances, but that is one I'll remember! I'd put it up there with Bartok's own piano version.
best violinist, ever.
Wat een geweldig componist is Bartok !
Ik buig mijn hoofd heel diep voor uw pleidooi
Great rendition! One of my favorites here. Congratz
The guy at the end says it - Bravo! Such power; such passion. Breathtaking.
QUEEN👑
Redescubrí estas danzas, el encanto de la interpretación.
Ivry Gitlis interpretation of this masterpiece is outstanding, mostly it´s played much slower and it barely holds together, this is just right, and I can´t get used to other versions, like Richters interpretation of Schuberts last pianosonata.
Amazing 🙊
at 1 minute 40 secs in,,, my hairs on the back of neck stand up and my nose runs! Powerful stuff!
the power of a (well played) viola.
+deadvodka im pretty sure thats a violin... well no im sure its a violin lol
my left ear liked this!
does anybody know of a recording that exceeds this one? Jensen blew me away with her romanticism and virtuosity :D
Patricia Kopachinskaja
J. David Taylor no i really believe this is the best one can ever get in playing this performance of bartoks dances! Even with the piano where its written for it can not be done with more vibrance and passion and colour than this.

Me encanta, pero tengo una duda... Qué escala emplea? Me parece algo disonante no?
1/4 de tono
makes me feel so proud of my Hungarian heritage
maybe 62 hungarians don't like that Bartok was inspired so much by romanian awesome and unique folk from the time of dacians.
mere jangle. I could get more melody from a vacuum cleaner.
Beautiful Beautiful.
Brillante interpretación de estas danzas!!!
400 years of Hungarian soul and its collective memory... stored in 4:42.
one of my favorite piece of music...
Also romania is a beautifull country! I could use this as national anthem, its so beautifull!
Spectacular!
